The side rails give me peace of mind since my daughter still rolls around a lot in her sleep. It sits low enough that she can get out on her own in the morning, which she's pretty proud of. Assembly took me about an hour but everything lined up fine.
My 2-year-old figured out how to climb in and out by herself on day one, which the low height makes easy. The side rails still keep her from rolling onto the floor at night. Sturdy little bed for the price.
The high side rails give me real peace of mind now that my kid rolls around a lot at night. Since the mattress sits so close to the floor, those middle-of-the-night tumbles out of bed aren't scary anymore. Assembly was straightforward and it feels solid.
