All KidKraft wooden swing sets and playhouses have been coated at the factory with a water-repellent stain. This coating decreases the amount of water absorption during rain or snow, thus decreasing the tension in the wood. Sunlight will break down this coating over time, and wood will turn a gray color. To liven up your outdoor play item, simply add a new coat of stain to keep it looking new. Using our KidKraft tinted stain colors allows you to keep the exact color of the set. This combined stain and sealant is water-based and will protect your set from UV rays, mildew and moisture. It's been designed specifically for wooden outdoor items, providing rich color to extend the life of your product through the years. It's recommended to seal your playset or playhouse at least once a year.

  • Extends color life of your playset or playhouse
  • Seals in moisture
  • Resists natural elements such as mold, mildew and UV rays
  • Water-based and child-safe (when product is dry)
  • A single gallon of sealant usually covers 200-300 square feet
  • For even distribution, apply stain with a brush, roller or paint pad
  • Let the stain dry 24-48 hours

I was worried about the wood drying out after two winters of rain and snow, but this soaked right in and beaded water off within a day. One gallon did the whole playhouse with some left over, and the brown blends in with the factory finish instead of looking painted on.

The gallon covered our whole swing set with a bit left over, and it went on way easier than I expected with a brush. After two rainstorms the water still beads right up instead of soaking in, which is exactly what we needed.

I put this on our old playhouse two weekends ago and the water just beads up now instead of soaking in. The bear brown color is a touch darker than the faded factory stain, but it blends in fine once it dries. Took a full afternoon to brush on, but worth it before winter hits.
